Ethos & Guidelines
Here at Craneswater Junior School we want to give our children as many opportunities as possible to try different activities. As such we put on a range of clubs after school which are run by either teaching staff or external providers. Many are free but some are charged for as we have to pay the external providers though we have been using our sports premium funding to partially subsidise the costs.
We also try and ensure that as many pupils as possible have the chance to represent our school whether in sporting, musical or other events. Therefore we do select children on the basis of ability where appropriate but also to ensure opportunities for all.
All pupils are timetabled for at least 2 hours P.E. each week and we often have specialist coaches coming in to provide high quality P.E. for pupils and training for teachers. We also use this to try and foster links between the school and sports clubs.
To give you an idea of the range of events and clubs we have organised or been involved with over the last couple of years please see the list below:
Football, rugby, netball, cricket, tennis, badminton, swimming, frisbee, athletics, karate, choir, drama, gardening, Spanish and computer coding.
