Pupils at Craneswater enjoy weekly whole school singing, to cover a range of songs, styles and themes. Throughout the keystage, our children learn about and use the pentatonic scale both through improvising and composing, they identify how sounds are created and compose their own mood music, they listen to a range of protest songs and write their own on a relevant theme and make links between music and moving images. Performances within different groupings are facilitated: solo, small instrumental groupings , class groups, year groups and whole school.
At Craneswater, the following instrumental and vocal lessons are on offer in small group classes:
Guitar, keyboard, singing, ukelele, violin, woodwind (fife, flute, clarinet, saxophone) and brass (trumpet and others). Instrumental teachers prepare regular pupil performances throughout the year to which parents are invited.
Whenever possible, our pupils participate in music workshops, live music performances and concerts
